On The Road With Denis & Starr/Day 29 - New Hampshire

Thursday, October 29

On the way to New Hampshire

Judy outdid herself this morning.
A breakfast tart filled with caramelized mushrooms & leeks.
Fresh fruit & juice.
French Vanilla Yogurt.
Homemade Apple Spice Bread.

Eddie and Judy promised to look us up when they visit Atlanta next January and we hope they do.  We enjoyed every moment we spent at their accommodating Belfast Bay Inn.

And then we hit the road....heading for New Hampshire.

Soon after, we decided (because we could) to start a new collection.  Fanciful Road Signs.

I guess he didn't see the sign.

Gorgeous scenery all the way.

Collectible!

The itinerary for our next road trip.

Don't even want to think about what they do on this farm.....

And after we crossed the New Hampshire line, Mother Nature's colors were really cooking with Crisco!

A Happy New Hampshire House!

So, we're driving down the road and Denis says, "What I really want right now is a grilled cheese sandwich and some fries."

Within seconds, we come upon a little bodega called the Village Tie-Up situated on a gorgeous lake.

And what do you think they were selling that day?

We placed our order and went out back.

Buttery grilled yumminess with added tomatoes and and a cup of that good old New England Coffee to wash it down!

Lunch - 10 Bucks.
Views - Picturesque.
What are the Chances Encounter - Priceless.

With no reservations for that evening, we had to begin the hunt for a suitable place to rest our heads.  Tonight we wanted simple.  The kind of roadside motel that we had both stayed at on childhood vacations.  Rounding a bend into the town of Center Harbor, we came upon the perfect place!!

This spic and span little retreat sits on the northwest shores of Lake Winnispesaukee.  It was the last night that they would be open for the season and they would be battening up the hatches tomorrow not to open again until next May.  We were the only guests staying there that night!

After bringing in only the few items we needed for the one night stay, we went out for a little exercise and to get acquainted with the surrounding area.

We could just imagine the families that vacationed here exchanging the hustle and bustle for peace, tranquility and the fresh country air.

We decided to keep it simple for dinner also.  We shopped at the local market.

We feasted on garden fresh tomatoes, luscious avocados, garbanzo bean salad and whole grain pitas.

Way under budget on lodging and meals today!!  Love when that happens!!

We snuggled in for The Office and 30 Rock.....
