On The Road With Denis & Starr/Day 24 - Newport, RI

Saturday, October 24

Newport, RI - The Cliff Walk

Provisions, we needed provisions.  Undershirts and art supplies for Denis, suitable footgear for hiking the Cliff Walk and the new Tea Time Magazine for me.  Off we went to the nearest strip center and in a mere 30 minutes, Bob's your uncle, we hit the Walmart, Payless, Michaels, Barnes & Noble and the Starbucks to boot!

That afternoon, Val and Martha drove in to Newport from Blackstone to hike the Cliff Walk with us.  Located along the eastern shore of Newport, this 3.5 mile public access walk is abundant with wildflowers, birds and geology.  The views of the Newport shoreline are nothing less than spectacular and the ability to get up close and personal with the gilded age mansions is awesome.

Martha, Val & Starr ready to take on the Cliff Walk.

The Flora...

And the Fauna..
(I looked it up, birds can be fauna!)

A view of Rough Point from the Cliff Walk.

On the Cliff Walk Bridge at Rough Point.
Doris, darling, please invite me in for tea!

Souvenirs from our Cliff Walk.

Later that evening we all dined at the Gas Lamp Grille on Thames Street.

For starters, Stuffed Mushrooms.
Fresh mushroom caps filled with spinach and goat cheese.

Next, Eggplant Parmesan for Denis and the Santa Fe Veggie Burger for me.

We could not resist the Warm Pumpkin Bread Pudding with Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream & Whipped Cream for Dessert!!  Serious Yum!

After a fun time with Val and Martha, we bid farewell and went back to spend our last night at The Newport.
