On The Road With Denis & Starr/Day 1 - All Packed and Ready To Go

Thursday, October 1

Hello to all of our Family & Friends!

All packed up and ready to go!

On a beautiful, fall day in early October, we left our shangri la in Atlanta, GA and began our journey. The first stop on our six week road trip to Bar Harbor, Maine and back would be Charleston, South Carolina for 3 nights.

Our plan had been to leave at noon. We pulled out of the driveway at 3:00 pm. Via text, our dear friend, Gloria, reminded us not to think about schedules, but just to enjoy the saga.

We hit the downtown connector and picked up the I-20 heading east. As is the tradition in our family, we declared ourselves "en vacance" as soon as we ramped on to the highway.

Merely 80 miles into the trip, a BLOW OUT! Left rear tire, totally destroyed!

Thanks to the good folks at Mercedes Tele-Aid Road Service and John from Hurrell's E-Z Towing & Repair we limped into Augusta wearing our spare tire. After making an appointment to replace both rear tires the following morning, we spent a pleasant evening with room service and a new episode of The Office followed by a restful night of sleep at the Augusta DoubleTree Hotel.
