On The Road With Denis & Starr/Day 2 - Augusta, GA

Friday, October 2
Happy Birthday, Jack!!!

Augusta, GA

With our two brand new tires installed, we decided, since we were there anyway, to explore downtown Augusta.

James Brown (the godfather of soul) all decked out for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Paying tribute to Brown's mega hit - "Hot Pants"

Augusta's fountains were Pretty in Pink!

Naaiya's Atelier

Augusta, GA 30901

I found this lovely, English china soup bowl and saucer at Naaiya's Atelier. They are not from the same set, but go together well. Just the first of the little treasures I hope to find for my Crown & Eagle Tea Times!

Back on track, we once again set off into the Low Country headed for Charleston.

Driving through the little City of Denmark, I spied this sign. This little tea room was a gathering place for entertainers traveling the southern circuit at the turn of the 20th century. If walls could talk, what tales we would hear about the musicians and, without a doubt, tap dancers that dined there. (Later that evening when we were mapping our next day's travel, we found that just north of Denmark there are two little cities; one called Sweden and the other Norway!)

Just up the road we came across this charming little theatre called Little Theatre!! I have to believe that some of those tap dancers tripped the light fantastic on it's stage back in the day.

While on Highway 601 (Broxton Bridge Road) in Ehrhardt, SC, we came across a very charming B & B called Ehrhardt Hall. We couldn't pass up staying the night at this historic (1903) Ante-Bellum Mansion. www.ehrhardthall.com

These porches reminded me of my days at the Colonial Inn.

The Grand Foyer

Our hosts were a sweet couple named Shirley & Frank. They left the corporate rat race in NY/NJ 12 years ago and moved to Ehrhardt where they purchased, renovated and are now running this lovely B & B. They were so attentive and prepared a tasty, totally vegetarian Seasonal Spicy Pumpkin Soup for our dinner that evening. A huge vegetable salad was served with a selection of 3 homemade dressings; Honey Dijon, Raspberry Vinaigrette and Ranch. I just had to try all three!!! Although the homemade desserts of cheesecake and chocolate mousse souffle looked delicious, we passed and headed up to bed in our deliciously pink Victorian room, the Columbia.
