GIGI IS ON HER WAY!!
In her honor, our Pink Camellia bloomed earlier than usual this year!
So, as we await her arrival, I'll share a poem. Author Unknown.
The greatest gift that God could send
He sends with love to you:
A sweet and helpless little child,
An obligation too,
Each baby that God gives to us
Is merely lent awhile
To cherish, love, protect and guard
From every snare and wile.
To form within its childish heart
His image good and true.
God bless this tiny new-born babe
And may He bless you too!!
And from the 1958 American movie musical, Gigi, for which Lerner and Loewe wrote:
Thank Heaven... Thank Heaven...
Thank Heaven for little girls!
And thank heaven for big girls too!!
Each year at this time, my treasured Church Ladies group, The Rebekahs, are treated to a delightful gathering for a Christmas lesson, fellowship and a delicious meal at the home of Mary Helen.
Mary Helen accompanied us on the piano as we sang Away In A Manger, and then she shared some readings and her touching thoughts about the young mother of Jesus.
Pauline treated us to a review of her favorite Christmas books for adults and children and gave each of us a very beautiful bookmark that she made by hand and embossed with the sentiment, "May the wonder that is Christmas touch the child within your heart."
We listened to a recording of Mary, Did You Know? My favorite verse is:
Did you know, that your baby boy
Was Heaven's perfect Lamb?
And this sleeping Child you're holding
Is the Great I Am.
-Mark Lowry-
Then we were treated to a scrumptious lunch in the solarium at Mary Helen's very large and very festive holiday table.
From the buffet, we filled our plates with:
Warm and savory casseroles, one of which was all veggie.
English peas with mushrooms in a delicate sauce.
The best sweet potato casserole I have ever tasted.
Cranberry sauce and light and flaky biscuits.
Our salads were lime jello with pear stuffed with cream cheese and nuts.
For afters, Mary Helen out did herself with a Death By Chocolate
Cheesecake and Divinity!
Fainting couch, here I come!
I love the Group of Rebekah, each lovely lady is a wise woman in her own right. I'll be listening closely to their loving advice as I don my new hat in life and become Nana*Starr!
Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we joyfully welcome our new little addition,
Starr
